Some Facts About Northern Cyprus

Cyprus is the third largest island that is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea and there are several districts included in Northern Cyprus, Nicosia and Famagusta are two of these districts. The others are Kyrenia, Guzelyurt and Iskele. Within these districts there are many cities and villages such as Deoirmenlik, Akdogan, Mesarya, Salamis Bellapais, Karmi, Lefke, and Karpaz to name just a few of these cities and villages. The whole of Cyprus including the north has a long and rich history, there are many museums, churches and other sites of the distant past that can be viewed. There are many tourist and religious people that come to the island for the history it has to offer. The landscape of Northern Cyprus is filled with greenery of the mountains that back this part of the island with the sand beaches to the front and the Mediterranean Sea lapping at the edges of the beaches. A resident or tourist could not ask for more on this island, the mountains, the sea and the weather is perfect most days of the year with only a few rain or cool days of winter. The estimated average is approximately 325 days of sunshine on the island and the rainy season is in the cool months of winter, making this a perfect time to visit the many sites that are open to the public such as the museums, churches or castles.

The island of Cyprus has a central location, which is south of Turkey, north of Egypt east-southeast of Greece and is the largest of the Mediterranean islands; it is also a part of the European Union. Cyprus are the only member of the European Union to have a communist government and one of only one of two countries that have elected democratically to choose this type of rule. The tourism rate of Cyprus approximately two and a half million tourists a year and this figure rises each year according to statistics and may increase even further as Cyprus adopted the Euro as there currency as of January 1, 2008. The schooling in Cyprus for children is not only an up to date curriculum it is also equipped for children who speak different languages and also for those that do not reside on the island full time.

These are advantages that are a plus when considering moving to the island and purchasing property for sale and there are also published statistics that have been released showing Cyprus is a growing island. One such statistic that has been released is from the years 1977 to the year 2003 and it shows that the economy increased one hundred and twelve percent. A large amount of these employees are employed in the service sector, which is a large part of Norther Cyprus with the tourism industry. This may not come as a surprise what may is that the government recognized this and retrained the service industry employees to boost their tourism numbers to accommodate the amount of tourists that visit the island. There are also statistics that show Cyprus places 16th world wide in terms of per capita income, with a five-year growth rate of approximately 3.8%.

During the past twenty years the economy of Cyprus has moved from agriculture to light manufacturing and services, the service sector that included tourism that has reached almost seventy percent. In the district of Nicosia is a United States Embassy, and this embassy each year sponsors a pavilion for American products at an International State Fair that is held on the island. To add to this there is a Commercial Award dinner where United States and other countries promote their products as well as what exports the island has to offer in trade. The United States exports American tobacco, and tobacco products, machinery and other items such as data processing machines to Cyprus and the Northern Cyprus area, which imports them in trade for the products they are going to export. The items that are imported by the United States from Cyprus are clothing and footwear, along with other items like steel tubes and pipes, along with different food items and some dairy products.

There are employment agencies on the island, which are giving business people ability to be self employed or move a business from another country and register it in Cyprus to have it approved there is a small fee and there are businesses that offer services to do this process for business owners including having an attorney file the papers for this new business in Cyprus. After the name of the business has been approved there will be a registration fee that will be based on the capital of the company and there are also tax incentives for the businessperson offered by the government of Cyprus. This makes opening a business or moving one to the island a very attractive deal for business owners as well as a lucrative one. On the island of Cyprus are also many activities that are listed in village newspapers for old and young in daily or weekly and the newspaper Cyprus Today is a paper that is published in English for residents and tourists who speak the language. The real estate market in Cyprus has grown in recent years as more people realize what Northern Cyprus has to offer and with this the local economy has grown making the island a place that is beginning to be noticed in other markets as well as the companies that do business on the island.

On the North West Coast of Cyprus is where the amazing and beautiful Polis area is located on Cyprus. Latchi, a well known fishing village that serves the residents, vacationers and tourists of the Northern Cyperus. This spectacular fishing port attracts many people the whole year around. A noticeable site is the many different gay colors and shapes of the fishing boats that are swaying in the waters that are bright blue in the Mediterranean Sea, looking along the harbour.
